OpenTempo FM for the most part is a weekend based Radio Station situated in the heart of Waterford City. We aim to bring you a eclectic and appealing set of shows every weekend touching on just about every Genre that conventional radio stations dont cater to.
The station idea was conceived sometime in 2009 between Kurt J and Robbin G. Kurt having experiance in helping set up an older station, MetalHertzFM, playing music, Gigs and Festivals, and the Robin G having experiance in playing music, Gigs and Festivals. Both being driven with a passion to entertain and provide a service that no other station was catering to. The idea was not really taken seriously until around November 2011.
Basically like MetalHertzFM, we were sick of hearing all the radio stations both local and national playing the exact same songs as each other, dreary fist pumping autotone carbon copys of XFactor successors thats been generated by pressing a button on a computer.
That music isnt for everyone, personally we have nothing against whatever you may call pop or chart music, its just something that dosent appeal to us, whats wrong with spicing things up and changing Genre from time to time? Out of this drive OPenTempoFM was born.
OpenTempoFM has been on air since Christmas 2011, and as with every great thing it wasnt without its setbacks.. but thats all part of the fun.
Christmas 2013 OpenTempoFM celebrated its second year on air.
March 2014 OpenTempoFM starts its 'Plus' Stream for events, gigs, sports matches etc.
